Instagram has rules for automated messages. Here's what they mean for you, before you sign up instead of after.
- Business or Creator account
- Personal accounts can't use Instagram's messaging API. Switching is free and takes a minute in the Instagram app.
- One private reply per comment
- Meta allows one private DM per comment. That's why the first message is a single tap by default: it opens the chat so the rest can follow.
- A 24 hour window
- After someone taps or messages you, Instagram gives you 24 hours to reply. After that, only they can restart the chat.
- Message requests
- If they don't follow you, the DM can land in their message requests. On posts and Reels, a public reply under their comment can tell them where to look.
- Hourly limits
- Instagram caps how many messages an account can send per hour. Near the cap we queue and retry, so replies go out a little later. A very large spike can still run into the cap.
- What counts as a send
- Your offer DM and the follow-up reminder. The first “Yes, send it over” message and follow checks don't count. Contacts are unlimited on every plan.
- AI help has limits
- AI writing help is fair use: 20 requests a minute and 300 a day for each login. AI checks start off and only act once you turn them on.
- Official API only
- Instagram Login and Meta's API. No scraping and no password sharing. Your access token is encrypted, and disconnecting an account deletes its data.

What does Send Link To Me do?
Send Link To Me is Instagram comment-to-DM automation for creators. You connect a Business or Creator account, pick a post or Reel, set a keyword, and choose a DM template. When someone comments that keyword, we send them a private reply that can nudge a follow and keep the conversation in Direct. You can also post a short public reply under their comment.
Does AI send anything for me?
No. Write, Rewrite and the other AI helpers only show versions and ideas. Nothing is written into a field, saved or sent until you click it, and Undo puts your old text back. Coach never posts or sends either. When you correct it in chat, it saves that correction to your voice right away, and you can undo it. AI checks are off until you turn one on. While off, they only note what they would have done.
What can an AI assistant do?
Claude, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Cursor can use the same Send Link To Me product as the dashboard: automations, templates, posts and schedules, contacts, and analytics. Photos and videos use a direct file link or an upload page. Plan changes, payments, and connecting Instagram stay on the website.
Do I need a Business or Creator account?
Yes. Meta only allows this kind of automation on Instagram Business or Creator accounts. Personal accounts cannot connect.
Is this allowed by Instagram?
Yes, when you use official APIs. We use Meta's official Instagram Login and Graph APIs with the permissions you approve. We do not scrape Instagram or use unofficial clients. You still need to follow Instagram and Meta Platform Terms.
What is a “send” on the pricing page?
A send is a successful final automation DM: when your configured link or template lands in the inbox. The unopened-link follow-up also counts when it goes out. Follower consent prompts, “I’m following” nudges, and duplicate retries do not count toward the monthly send limit. Failed or skipped events (wrong keyword, already replied, rate limited) also do not count. Active automations are rules you leave enabled on posts or Reels.
Do you charge by contacts?
No. Every plan includes unlimited contacts. We meter active automations and monthly sends only, so your bill does not jump just because more people comment or message you.
